Ian K. Linnabary

Ian LinnabaryIan Linnabary is a partner at Reno & Zahm LLP where he has practiced since graduating from law school in 2002. His practice is devoted primarily to the representation of businesses, individuals and organizations (including public and private entities) in a wide range of civil matters involving contractual issues, business transactions, commercial lending, real estate development and zoning, corporate governance and municipal law.  Relying on his background in politics, Mr. Linnabary also devotes a significant amount of his practice to governmental relations and election law.

Throughout his legal career, Mr. Linnabary has represented individuals and businesses at all stages of business development, from inception to wind-down. His business clients range from large, publicly-held corporations to small businesses and sole proprietors. He also has experience advising units of local government such as municipalities, counties, townships, school districts and park districts.

A native of Winnebago County, Mr. Linnabary graduated from Dakota High School in 1991. He attended the University of Illinois at Springfield and graduated in 1996 with a B.A. in political studies. After graduation, he was employed for three years as a political operative working throughout Illinois on state and federal campaigns. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2002. Mr. Linnabary is admitted to practice before the State Courts of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Winnebago County Bar Association.

Mr. Linnabary resides in Rockford with his wife and three children and is active in the community. In 2017, he was appointed by the Governor to serve a four-year term as one of eight members of the Illinois State Board of Elections. He also serves locally as President of the Board of Commissioners of the Rockford Park District and Secretary and legal counsel to the Rockford Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.  He is co-lead of the Healthy Lifestyles team of the Transform Rockford initiative. In addition, Mr. Linnabary has served as a volunteer, director or pro bono legal advisor for various non-profit entities and charitable causes, including the Rock River Valley Pantry, Rockford YMCA, Next Rockford, Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Friends Forever Humane Society, Prairie State Legal Services, Burpee Museum of Natural History, Rockford Area Mountain Biking Alliance, Rock River Multisport, Rockford Road Runners, the 2007 Rockford Public Schools’ Kids Win! Referendum Committee and the 2012 Rockford Public Schools’ Better Schools Brighter Future Referendum Committee.

In 2003, the Rockford Chamber of Commerce named Ian to its first class of 40 Leaders Under Age 40. The Chamber described the select group of leaders as those who have “distinguished themselves in business, have made a commitment to being engaged in civic affairs and are providing leadership to community groups and causes.”

In 2012, Ian was again honored by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce by being selected as one of the Twenty People You Should Know.  The community leaders selected for this distinction were all chosen for their respective commitments to their professions and the Rockford community.

In 2016, Ian was honored by the Rockford Rotary Club with the Service Above Self Award, which recognizes individuals for their exceptional community service.
